June 21st is Bring Your Dog to Work Day, making it the perfect excuse to spend more time with your beloved pup whilst your colleagues dote over them too. However, in new surroundings with unfamiliar people, your dog might exhibit different behaviours, such as over-excitement or fear. While having your pooch by your side whilst you’re in the office might be a welcomed distraction, it’s important to monitor your pup’s various expressions in your work environment so that you can properly understand what they’re trying to tell you.

For instance, if your dog has a low and fast wagging tail, this may mean it’s a bit anxious, the human equivalent of a nervous laugh even! However, a middle-level and fast wagging tail means someone is very excited. Your pooch may look straight at you with ears up and tongue exposed, meaning it’s happy because it received praise or got an extra pat. If its ears are pricked up and the white of its eyes are showing, this could be a sign that it’s fearful, so you may want to try comforting them away from the noise of the office.

Pinpointing your dog’s movements and reactions can help you determine how your dog is feeling, and whether it’s comfortable in a different, and perhaps busy environment. Understanding what your dog is trying to tell you may also make you feel more connected.
