Writing from 30 Years of Veterinary Experience – Why Expert-Led Pet Content Matters

Every day, articles, blogs and social media posts offer advice on everything from choosing the right food and understanding animal behaviour to recognising health concerns and caring for our pets as they age. But when it comes to creating content that people can genuinely trust, experience matters.

After more than 30 years working as a veterinary nurse, I have spent my career helping animals and the people who care for them. From preventative healthcare and everyday welfare to feline behaviour and the challenges that can arise in the relationship between pets and their owners, my professional experience provides the foundation for the articles I write. And that is where I believe expert-led content can make a real difference.

More than just a writer

Anyone can research a topic online. But writing about pet health, behaviour and welfare requires more than simply finding information and putting it into an article. My experience as a veterinary nurse allows me to bring real-world knowledge to the content I create. Over the years, I have worked with countless pets and owners, seen the questions people ask, the mistakes they unintentionally make and the areas where better education could improve an animal’s health, welfare and quality of life.

My particular passion lies in preventative healthcare. I have launched and developed campaigns including Respect the Lead and Think Outside the Bowl, both created to raise awareness and encourage positive changes in the way we understand and care for our pets. This work has also led to opportunities to speak about animal welfare in the media, including appearances on BBC Radio. I have also undertaken further study in animal behaviour, achieving an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour, Feline, Level 5 with distinction.

This knowledge now supports not only my work directly with pet owners through my veterinary nurse and feline services, but also the articles and educational content I create for wider audiences.

From veterinary practice to publications

Over recent years, I have written expert articles covering a wide range of subjects, including feline behaviour, canine welfare, pet health, responsible ownership and preventative care.

Between 2024 and 2026, I wrote more than 30 articles for a leading pet care platform, sharing professional knowledge with pet owners on subjects that matter to their animals’ everyday lives. All of these experiences have helped shape the way I communicate.

I believe expert information should not feel intimidating, overly clinical or difficult to understand. The best content takes professional knowledge and makes it relevant, engaging and useful to the people reading it.
