The Best Dog Walking Locations in Horsham

Taking your dog for a walk can be an enjoyable experience for both owner and pet alike. It’s a great time to bond with your dog, enjoy the outdoors, and get some exercise. I thought it would be worth highlighting some of the best dog walking spots in Horsham. Whether you are looking for a ramble in the woods, or somewhere with open space to play fetch, there is something for everyone right here on our doorstep!

Chesworth Farm

Despite being only a ten-minute walk from the town centre, Chesworth Farm is one of the lesser-known local beauty spots. To the south-east of Horsham, the site covers 90 acres and has a mixture of footpaths and bridleways, as well as grassland and meadows.

There is plenty of space for you and your dog to explore both on and off the lead, and well away from any roads.

Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods

If you are looking for a local woodland walk, then it’s hard to beat Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods.

The site includes several signposted walking trails taking in the different habitats which cover the large site. The woods also feature several sculptures which can be seen along a sculpture trail, and boardwalk covering the natural wetlands.

Horsham Park

Familiar to all locals will be Horsham Park, the large park in the centre of town. Whilst some dog walkers prefer heading further off the beaten track, Horsham Park features some wide-open spaces ideal for playing with your dog.

If you are looking for somewhere to take the family then the extensive facilities, including the Conservatory Café, bandstand, sensory garden, and children’s play area make this a great spot. Please note however that not all of these facilities allow entry to dogs, so be sure to plan your trip carefully.

Horsham Riverside Walk

Clocking in at 13 miles, the Horsham Riverside Walk will be much too long for most dog walkers to cover in one trip. However, broken into smaller sections, the trail covers some great dog walking spots. These include walking alongside Chennells Brook to the north side of town, and Boldings Brook to the west, both of which are well worth a look.
