Respect The Lead Gains Coverage in Wales

Nationwide Campaign Promoting Responsible Dog Ownership Takes Centre Stage

In a remarkable stride towards promoting responsible dog ownership and fostering safer interactions between our four-legged friends, the nationwide campaign “Respect The Lead” has recently garnered widespread coverage in Wales. Founded by Zoe Blake, a dedicated and qualified veterinary nurse, the campaign addresses the vital importance of keeping dogs safe whilst on leads and guides owners on safe introductions between canines.

Respect the lead Neath Port Talbot CouncilZoe Blake, spurred into action by her first-hand experience witnessing dogs engaging in aggressive behaviour at a local park, initiated the Respect The Lead campaign to raise awareness and educate dog owners on how to let their dogs interact with others in a happy and safe way and help raise awareness that dogs are often kept on a lead for good reason.

The campaign has reached a significant milestone by becoming an integral part of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Paws on Patrol NPT Scheme. This collaborative effort aims to encourage responsible dog ownership while enlisting the community’s support in keeping a vigilant eye on their surroundings. Members of the campaign will actively report issues such as graffiti, dog fouling, faulty street lighting, fly-tipping, and instances of anti-social behaviour and criminal activity.

These visuals serve not only to reinforce the campaign’s core message of responsible dog ownership but also to remind the community of their role in maintaining a safe and welcoming neighbourhood.

Zoe Blake expressed her enthusiasm for the campaign’s expansion, stating, “I’m so happy the campaign is reaching more dog owners and being talked about.” Zoe is eager to engage with the community further by giving talks to the members of the group and actively participating in additional campaign initiatives.
