Nail clipping for your pets

Whether it is a dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig, all pets need attention paying to their Dog nail clipping servicenails. Breed, age and lifestyle will depend on when nails need trimming. Dogs need their nails regularly filed, which usually occurs naturally. Certain groups of cats like indoor-only or older cats may need them clipped regularly, however, outdoor cats less so as they use their nails for climbing and defence. Rabbits ideally need claws clipped every 3-4 weeks, again depending on breed and age. If nails get too long on any animal they can split, bleed, break, overgrow into their pads and cause infection. They can also cause discomfort, especially in our senior pets as they may walk differently due to the long nails which can aggravate arthritis. It is an area of pet care that is often overlooked. Nail clipping also allows us to check for any other paw problems, such as grass seeds and sore pads.
