Excited to be a Student Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors

Anyone that knows me knows, I’m always studying! My passion for pet care crosses from my veterinary nurse job into my Friendly Pet Nurse business as I’m always looking to learn more, understand better and help out my fellow pet owners. My particular love is cat behaviour. With three pet cats of own, one of whom has had a very interesting life so far (Fluffy), I have a lot of assistance! The aim of all the studying is to be recognised as a qualified cat behaviour specialist by the leading governing bodies. In doing so I will also be listed by them for cat owners to be referred too.

As such, I have recently been accepted as a Student Member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC). Currently, studying the Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Feline) Level 5 with Compass Education and Training to prepare me to work in the role of a feline behaviour specialist, the Student Membership is part of that journey. It also allows me access to webinars and events specific to my training and industry. I can also find support groups for any concerns or to help my studying. It’s great to know I am now part of a supportive organisation that is highly regarded.

Cat Behaviour can be a real issue

From the addition of a new cat to a changing environment, a cat’s life can be impacted on from a variety of factors and can alter their behaviour, mood and health. I’ve been very lucky to have helped so many cats and their owners, from Pico the Norwegian Forest Cat to Belle and Billy who are just two cases I’ve written about it. With the pandemic, I’m still able to offer video and online consultations.
